PashupatiNath Temple
Pashupatinath Temple is considered one of the hindu pilgrimage sites in Nepal. It is located 6 km east from Kathmandu city near Bagmati river. It was built by King Bhupatindra Malla in 1697, structure of temple is a two-storey building and is built in pagoda style. Pashupatinath temple area consists of other more than 240 small temples. The main temple Pashupatinath has golden roof & four silver doors around. The temple has been on the list of UNESCO World heritage site since 1979.
2. Swayambhunath Stupa ( Monkey Temple)
It is also known as Monkey temple as there are holy monkeys living in the north-west parts of the stupa. It was founded by the King Vrsadeva, about the beginning of the 5th century. It is located in the top hill at Kathmandu valley. Swayambhunath stupa is believed to be around 2500 years old probably one of the oldest religious monumnets making its name in the list of UNESCO world heritage site.
3. BoudhaNath Stupa
Boudhanath stupa is the largest stupa in the world was listed at UNESCO world heritage sites in 1979. The stupa was built by King Manadev around the 5th century A.D. It is around 36 meters high unique three level mandala style structure. This monument is more or less similar to the Swayambhunath Stupa.
4. Kathmandu Durbar Square
It is also known as Hanuman Dhoka is located in northeastern outskirts of Kathmandu city. The palace is named after the Hindu God Hanuman, Who is regarded as the protector of the entire palace. The statue of Hanuman established by the King Pratap Malla at the entrance of the royal palace in 1672 A.D. and the storeyed residence built by King Prithvi Narayan Shah in 1770, which is called Basantapur Durbar Square. There are many temples which are dedicated to different Hindu deities. The whole complex is also known as Kathmadu durbar (palace) Square.
