Nepal's immigration rules are complex, cumbersome and, above all, expensive. All foreigners, except Indians, must have a visa. Visa is issued by Nepal embassies and consulates overseas, or they can be issued on the spot when you arrive in Nepal, either at the Kathmandu airport or at a road border with India or Tibet. If you stay in Nepal for longer than the duration of your original visa, you will require a visa extension. To trek, you must obtain a trekking permit from the immigration office specifying the time and route of your trek.
To obtain a visa when you arrive in Kathmandu you must fill in an application form; in theory, you should have a photograph, though this requirement is overlooked if you don't have one. visa application forms are available on a table in the arrival hall; airlines do not normally provide this form on the flight. For Visa Extension: Tourists can stay for a maximum of 150 days in a visa year (Jan 1 to Dec 31) extending the visa at the rate of 2 US $ per day. However, a minimum amount of 30 US$ has to be paid for a period of 15 days or less

Customs & clearance all baggage is subject to customs checks at the point of entry.Visitors are allowed to bring in the consumable articles such as liquor one bottle up 1.15 liters, 200 sticks of cigarette, 15 rolls of photo film and 12 rolls of movie camera film. Visitors are also allowed to carry one binocular, one camera, one movie camera, one video camera, one radio,one tape recorder, one bicycle,one wrist watch,one set of fountain pen, one perambulator,15 radio cassettes & 10 disk records into the country on the condition that they are declared and are to be taken back on return. Carrying narcotics, arms and ammunitions are strictly prohibited. Visitors can export souvenirs from the Department of Archaeology, National Archive
The building, Ram Shah Path, Kathmandu, Gold, silver, precious stones, wild animals and their skins, horns, etc, all drugs whether processed or in their natural state are prohibited to export.
